Five Tips for Making Your LCD TV Part of Your Home's Design

You may think about entertainment centers, or how your television set will be featured, bu you aren't necessarily thinking about featuring the television set itself. And if you're going to be living in this home, you probably have to admit: you're going to spend a lot of time in front of that television! In some rooms, the television is the entire focus.

So it goes without saying that you may want to spend a little time thinking about how you want your television to be placed in a new home or new apartment.

If you don't know a whole lot about interior design, now might be a good time to check out a site like About.com's feature on interior design. There you can brush up on the basics - we're talking to you, guys - so that your apartment or home doesn't look spartan, but warm and inviting. With that in mind, let's take a look at ways to incorporate your LCD TV into your home's interior design.

Tip #1: Design for yourself - and for your guests.

If you're going to be thinking about how you want your home laid out, you'll have to think about how guests will interact with it. We imagine that you'll be inviting friends and family to stay with you and enjoy your space with you - this usually means that you'll want them to feel as comfortable in your home as guests as you do as the home's owner. But you can't just think about your guests: you have to think about you, since you're the one who will be spending the most time in your home. Make sure your LCD TV is featured prominently and can be comfortably viewed from where you are most comfortable sitting. To keep other guests in mind, be sure to buy LCD television sets that have a wide field of vision.

Tip #2: Find ways to use the television when guests are at your home.

If your television is sitting on a cardboard box, it's not exactly going to impress your guests, is it? Of course not: that's why you'll want to make sure that your television can also fit into a room that other people will want to enjoy. Many times, you'll have a television on in the background while guests eat snacks or have drinks. You might consider putting your LCD TV into an angle where two walls intersect - this offers excellent viewing while avoiding the idea of having the television as your home's only focus.

Tip #3: Consider all of the elements at play.

If you're going to place a TV on one wall, will that wall be covered in sunlight while the sun sets, distracting the area surrounding the TV with strange shadows and bright lighting? You'll find that LCD TVs can handle glares, but it can still be distracting for other elements to come into play.

Tip #4: Ask yourself if you can go without a TV in this room.

One way to incorporate your television is...not to incorporate it at all. You can keep your television set in a basement setting, where it might be more comfortable to enjoy anyway. If you want to have a lot of guests over, it may be a better idea simply to keep the television out of the living room for minimal distraction.

Tip #5: Give it a whirl.

Once you've thought about your LCD TV interior design strategies, give one a try. If it works, it works. If it doesn't, try out a new idea. Try to find some feedback from friends and family, as well.
